An 18-year-old Poplar Bluff man was recently killed in an early-morning car accident.
Authorities say that the accident happened on U.S. 60, about 10 miles west of Poplar Bluff. The teen was driving a 2005 Chevy Colorado truck when he ran off of the road.
Lack of seat belt use seems to be a major contributing factor in this car accident. Seat belt use is one of the most important things that anyone can do to ensure that they survive a car accident.
Car accidents, particularly rollover crashes, are known for ejecting drivers. Individuals who are not restrained by a safety device usually die of blunt force trauma or impalement injuries in rollover accidents.
In this case authorities say that the teen ran off of the road, overturned and that he was ejected. Deputy Coroner Mike Elliot pronounced the teen dead around 5:20 a.m.
This is the 27th fatal accident for Missouri Highway Patrol Troop E this year.
