In our last post we discussed three serious central Kansas car accidents which sent four people to the hospital. Several fatal car accidents also occurred recently in the Kansas City region.
Details are beginning to emerge regarding one Overland Park crash which resulted in the death of a 77-year-old driver. KSHB-TV reports that the fatal Overland Park car accident happened when a pickup truck driven by a 49-year-old Prairie Village man hit a westbound Buick on 103rd Street. The pickup then struck a light pole. The pickup truck driver and the 77-year-old Buick driver died of their injuries. The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene whereas the elderly Buick driver died of his injuries at a nearby hospital.
Another fatal crash occurred by Watertown, Kansas on Friday. The accident happened on U.S. Highway 212 and involved a 25-year-old woman whose car crossed into oncoming traffic. The woman was hit head-on by a Mack truck driven by a 57-year-old Huron man. The woman was killed but her 3-year-old son survived the crash without injury.
The Kansas City Star reports that a third fatal car accident occurred Sunday in Northland. A 21-year-old pickup truck driver failed to negotiate a curve, rolled his truck and was ejected because he was not wearing a seatbelt. He was found dead at the scene of the crash.
